Well PC monitors might be smaller, but when you consider that even if you've got a 24" TV screen, modern games run at a 16:9 ratio no which means you'll actually end up with 19" widescreen, which is exactly what i've got two of.
HDTV does not actually run as high a resolution as a decent PC monitor at native resolution unless you're using 1080p which will match it (1,920x1,080) and that's the best of them, with more common resolutions being 1,280x720 - a resolution that most gamers can relate to.
Having said that, my monitor isn't exactly the best one as i'm running at only 1440x900 but that's a hefty step up from a normal TV which would display the same image at 852x480.
And I don't even have to leave the luxury of this big leather chair. I just pick up my 360 controller, smack the big X logo and on comes the xbox, taking over my secondary PC screen. When i'm done I just turn it off (via the controller again) and i'm back to my second desktop.
Win win situation. |
